How to submit a dataset hosted remotely

If datasets are hosted by a remote data center the following two approaches can be used to make datasets visible in the APPLICATE data catalogue:

  1. If the dataset is hosted by a data centre offering standardised discovery metadata in GCMD DIF or ISO19115 including information on the data access mechanisms, you can either send us the discovery metadata records or point us to a harvestable resource (OGC WCS and OAI-PMH supported currently). Please keep in mind that in order to properly ingest these metadata identification of the purpose of URLs in the discovery metadata records is required. Such identification relies on application of a controlled vocabulary. If in doubt ask us.
  2. Use the APPLICATE metadata editor which is available at https://applicate.met.no/metadata-collection-form

For most users not familiar with the data management practises in distributed data management, the second option is probably the easiest. This editor will guide you through the necessary steps. You have to be a registered user in the APPLICATE Data portal to use this option.
